Service Civil International
Service Civil International (SCI) is one of the world's largest international volunteering organisations dedicated to promoting a culture of peace through the organisation and coordination of voluntary projects all over the world. SCI has been organising international voluntary projects since 1920.
The historical archives of SCI in the Bibliothèque de la Ville La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland) provides an extensive documentation on international volunteering for peace.

The city library of La Chaux-de-Fonds presented today a new 180 pages strong directory of archives.

Recently I got a movie shot at the last International Committee Meeting (ICM) in Dhulikhel (Nepal) in December 2006. The DVD is quiet sophisticated, showing various impressions of the Meeting, parties and amusing interviews with participants. There the participants were asked funny questions like this one: "What colour of socks, did Ceresole wear".

In the letter of July 19 to Pierre Ceresole the Swiss minister of Defence, Ruedi Minger, requested guarantees, that any kind of antimilitaristic propaganda should be avoided. Failing that, the ministry would not supply any materials. Ceresole answered him him a day later. The correspondence was in German. Here it is summarized in English.

This week I was invited to have presentation on SCI at University of Novi Sad. Besides pictures of rich SCI history I presented three thesis on SCI as a kind of conclusion.
